*REGISTRATION FOR WINTER BASKETBALL 2022 IS OPENING SOON*
The Recreational Basketball program is open to all applicants regardless of skill level or place of residence. Winter basketball is open for grades 1-12. Recreational Basketball is designed to teach basketball skills and teamwork in a positive environment, while promoting good sportsmanship.
During the Winter season, for the month of December, teams will practice once a week until the school closes for holiday break and, beginning in January, teams will practice once per week in a county-provided gym with one game a week. Although there may be an occasional Sunday or weeknight game, games are generally played on Saturday.
For all age groups, except the Elementary (4th and under) we will have an 8-10 game regular season (based on usage permits) with a single elimination tournament at the end of the season. The Elementary (4th grade and under) divisions will have an 8-game schedule only. Usage permits are provided by Fairfax County and given in 3 hours blocks. Practices are broken into 1.5 hours blocks and provided to coordinators for distribution to their respective coaches. Practices are handed out monthly to help with planning purposes during the winter season. Though the full game schedule will be posted by the end of December, please be flexible with game changes due to weather cancellations or school closings.

- Season: January 7, 2023-end of February/beginning of March. End-0f-Season Tourney starts March 4, 2023.

The Recreational League offers Online Registration. Each player must register online. During the Fall/Winter months, we strongly encourage you to try out for their respective high school teams but register to hold a spot in case the high school team does not work out. This ensures that you have a place to play. If you are fortunate to make the high school team and remitted payment, a full monetary refund will be provided with confirmation of high school placement in these cases only.
REFUND POLICY:
We do not have a refund policy as a general rule, but if requests are received, then they are reviewed by the board and will be dealt with on an individual basis prior to the begin of the season..

HOW ARE TEAMS FORMED:
After the Player Assessment Nights, the evaluation committee will “rank” the player’s individual skills and provide the overall ranking information to the Commissioner. A blind draft will take place based on the evaluation committee’s information. The Evaluation committee was instituted to keep the teams as balanced as possible. Please keep in mind, this is a Recreational League. Because of the above, other than siblings, the league cannot guarantee any carpool or friend requests but will take requests into consideration. Requests and player placements are considered and prioritized on a date-of-registration basis.
